He was predeceased by: his wife Marilyn "Lyn" Hopkins Shimp. He is survived by: his children, Gregg (Nena), Cecily Fassler (Doug) and Jennifer Shimp-Bowerman (Josh); his grandchildren, Geoffrey (Cierra), Matt Shimp (Nicole), Hannah, William Fassler and Emily Bowerman; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Emmett, Grace, Owen and Theodore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Habitat ReStore of Lexington.
