He was predeceased by: his sisters, JoAnn Schoenbaechler and Mary Catherine Schoenbaechler. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Nealis Turner; his children, Louis (Betty), Paul (Leone) and Karen Karnes (Daryle) of Louisville; his stepdaughter Stephanie Manning of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Anna Schoenbaechler (Nick Reynolds) of Atlanta, Mary Schoenbaechler of Atlanta and Joshua Schoenbaechler of New Zealand. He is also survived by his family and friends.
