With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Lee Smith (Lexington, Kentucky), who passed away on January 16, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Smith and Mary Louise Reed Smith; his siblings, Thomas Edward Smith, Charles Lewis Stone and Loretta Thorpe; his niece Chasity Smith; and his great grandchild DJ Mays.
He is survived by: his brothers, William David Smith (Tammy) and James Robert Smith (Tammy) of South Carolina; his children, Dawn Chenault (Albert), Desiree Smith (Cardinal), Megan Hempfling (Kyle) of Ohio and Richard Kavanaugh Smith of Ohio; his grandchildren, Xavier Hocker of Lexington, KY, Dominique Chenault of Lexington, KY, Albert Jr. Chenault of Lexington, KY, Christopher Chenault of Lexington, KY, Andrea J Smith of Arizona, Shawna K Smith of Jamaica, Eric Smith of Jamaica, Joyce Smith of Jamaica, Jack Hempfling of Ohio and Julian Hempfling of Ohio; and his great grandchildren, Zyrell Hocker of Lexington and Brianna Hocker of Lexington. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Care Cremation and Funeral Service (1304 Bryan Ave, Lexington, KY 40505).
