He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Farmer and Virgie Farmer; his son Michael Preston Farmer; and his son-in-law John Clarke. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Reese Farmer; his stepson Jackson Reese Faust; his daughter Suzanne Farmer; his grandchildren, Preslee Farmer Hart (Miles Hart), Rex Butler Farmer, Hannah Jane Clarke (Ryan DeVany) and Jack Clarke; and his sisters, Patricia Farmer Huff and Martha Farmer Copeland.
