He is survived by: his father Leonard Sowards; his stepmother Carey Sowards; his mother Donna Moore; his brother Matthew David Sowards; his aunts and uncles, Wendy, Kevin Ellis, Patricia Sowards, Kathy Ann Swards and Scott Sowards; and his cousins, Joshua and Nathaniel Ellis.

Michael's family requests donations be made to the Hope Center in his memory.
