He was predeceased by: his father Homer Hempstead; and his brother Eugene Hempstead. He is survived by: his mother Mildred Williams Hempstead; his daughter Brandy Hempstead; his siblings, Maurice Hempstead (Deidre) of Rockford, IL, Maria Hayes (Norman) of Rockford, IL, Marion Hempstead and Anita Winbush; and also Angie Brown Hempstead. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
