She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Dickerson and Edith Buckner Gaines; her son John W. "Buddy" Bishop, Jr.; her grandson Christopher Bishop; and her siblings, John Thomas Dickerson, Sr., Russell Dickerson, George Gaines, Jr. and Johnetta Henderson.

She is survived by: her children, Tessa Hoggard, Rickey T. Bishop and Maceo T. Bishop; and her sister Jessie M. Gaines. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; host of great grandchildren.
