He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Smith (Odell), Christine Hale and Wateetah (late James); his adoptive son Deante King (Samesha); his godson George Brown Jr. (Kentucky State Representative); his grandchildren, Dr. Odell Smith (Twalla), Leonard Smith, Allan Smith, Nichole McNeil, Joseph Carter Jr., Ursula Simmons and Christopher Carter; and his sisters, Mattie F. McDaniel, CHristine C. Carten (Buford) and Geneva H. Bailey (Willis).
