He was predeceased by: his parents, Claudis Caldwell and Norma Caldwell; his brother Donald Caldwell (Jeanie); and his brother-in-law Harold Spencer (Barbara). He is survived by: his wife Joan Kliewer Caldwell; his sons, Chris Caldwell (Deb) and Brian Scott Caldwell (Ella); his grandchildren, Zack Caldwell (Nadia), Mark Caldwell (Stephanie) and Jordan Caldwell; his great grandchildren, Lukas Caldwell, Ellie Caldwell, Elena Caldwell and Timmy Thompson; and his siblings, Barbara Spencer, Rick Caldwell (Susan) and Joel Caldwell (Jan). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
