He was predeceased by: his father Vaughn Shearer; and his brother Steve Shearer. He is survived by: his wife Marjorie "Marti" Newton Shearer; his mother Judith Bee Shearer Lifer (Paul); his son Shane Shearer (Sarah); his grandchildren, Chris Shearer (Katherine), Parker, Shiloh, Preston, Owen and Liam; his siblings, Darrell Shearer (Maxine), Deborah Shearer Griffin, Tish Shearer (Nick DiNardi) and Rana Shearer; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Kunkle, Dan Newton, Don Newton and Bobby Newton (Linda). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario (100 Lexington Springmill Rd S, Ontario, OH 44906). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
