He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Walter Schmidt Sr. and Lillian Jean Schmidt (Cole). He is survived by: his wife Marie; his sons, Jeremy and David (Ladonna); and his grandson Colton Schmidt. He is also survived by his uncle, numerous cousins, and friends.
Karl's generous nature shined the brightest when he organized some of the largest car shows in Central Kentucky that donated over $130, 000 towards numerous charities; namely St. Jude Children's Hospital, UK Children's Hospital, & Thompson-Hood Veteran Center in Wilmore.
