He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Byers. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Richardson Byers; his children, Amy Byers Figgs and Jace Byers (Laura); his grandchildren, Zuri Earl, Leo Figgs and Jonas Faulkner; his sister Judith Tarr of Latrobe; his nephew Douglas; and his nieces, Christa and Carrie.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Little Mountain School and the Catholic Action Center.
