It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Richard Bender (Lexington, Kentucky), born in Grand Island, Nebraska, who passed away on July 18, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Leroy and Mary Lena Davis Bender; and his siblings, Margaret Whipple, Frances Meader and Bob Bender.

He is survived by: his children, Barton James Bender and Holly Smith; his stepchildren, Teresa Welch (Tom), Camille Cooper and Watson Caudill (Cindy); and his close friend Beverly Sherman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Sayre Christian Village, 3775 Belleau Wood Drive, Lexington, Ky 40517.
