He was predeceased by: his parents, John Muth and Mary Muth; and his brothers, John Luigart Muth and Joseph Muth. He is survived by: his children, James E. Muth Jr. and Mary Kent Muth; and his special sidekick Bebe. He is also survived by five nieces and three nephews.
