He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Franklin and Lillian Hefner McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Isaman McDonald; his children, Sheila Marie McDonald, Christine McDonald Emery (Jeff) and Kevin Goins; and his grandchildren, Jakob Goins, Kaiden Goins, William Emery and Matthew Emery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and the Lexington Humane Society.
