He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Douglas Ishmael and Bertha Dykes Ishmael; his siblings, Hattie Mae Ishmael Thomas, Katherine Ishmael Rose, Samuel Douglas Ishmael and Louise Ishmael Brown; his children, Cheryl Lynn Ishmael Harrish (Dwayne) and Mark Lee Ishmael; his grandchildren, Jason Scarborough (Ashley), Gary Scarborough (Brandi) and Stacey Hatton (Jason); and his great grandchildren, Aaron, James, Gary Tyler, Logan, Ryan, Jay Lee, Beverly, Avery, Jaxon and Bryson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Carolyn Perry.
