He was predeceased by: his father Clarence Bales. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Bales; his sons, James Bales Jr. (Lori) and Joshua Bales (Camila); his grandchildren, Jonathon Bales, Kendall Bales and Thomas Bales; and his siblings, Clarence Mason Bales, Debbie Bales, Carol Bales, David Bales, Ann Brooks and Mark Bales.
