She was predeceased by: her husband Eugene Wilson Yates; her sisters, Laura M. Dana and Eleanor M Surrency; and her parents, Dr. Charles Spencer and Isabel McCants.
She is survived by: her sister Nelle M. Smith of Beaufort, SC; her children, Gene Yates (Sandra), Isabel "Mackie" Hempel (Karl) of Tallahassee, FL, Carolyn Y Cunningham of Lexington, KY and Elliott "Glenn" Yates (Erin); her grandchildren, Anne Hempel (Todd Risk), Joy Hempel, Elliott Yates (Si Nae), Catherine Isabel Yates, Hunt Cunningham, Matt Yates, Wilson "Wil" Yates and Adam Yates; and her great grandchildren, Orion Van Oss, Evelyn Risk and Oscar Yates. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Christ Church (166 Market St, Lexington, KY 40507). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
