Hollis Melbo Williams Obituary

Hollis Melbo Williams was born January 22, 1949 to Rev. Cary Ezell and Elvira (Jordan) Williams in Brazoria, Texas. Hollis accepted Christ as his Savior at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brazoria, Texas at an early age where his father was the Senior Pastor.

After Hollis graduated from Sweeney High School, Sweeney, Texas, he attended Prairie View A&M University, Praire View, Texas, where he received his degree in Industrial Technology. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at: Turbo Power & Marine Systems; Gilbert Commonwealth; Raytheon Engineers & Constructors; Worley Parsons Resources & Energy; and he retired as Senior Electrical Designer at Bechtel Power Corporation.

Hollis met his wife, Velma Burrell, at Prairie View A & M, whom he married September 8, 1973. This union of 50 years was blessed with 1 child, Hilton Matthew Williams.

Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Albert Williams, Ezell Williams, Raymond Williams Clarence Williams and sisters Cornelia Shorts and Bessie Lee Thompson.

He is survived by brothers: Arthur Williams (Hattie) of Freeport, Tx. and Cornell Williams (Audrey) New Orleans, La.

Hollis leaves to morn his passing, his wife, Velma; his son, Hilton; granddaughter, Holland Mikayla Williams; and grandson Vijay Hendon Hill, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
