He is survived by: his wife Doris Burwell; his daughter Sally Thomas; his grandchildren, Jacklyn Caron (Chris) and Jason Hulett; his son James McKay (Carol); and his grandsons, Justin McKay (Samantha) and Keith McKay (Bonnie). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
