He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmen Wheeler and Helen Wheeler; and his siblings, Naomi Clinger, Samuel Wheeler, Frank Wheeler, Carmen Wheeler, Jr., Hildreth Lay, Mary Sutherland and Lena Mae Wheeler.
He is survived by: his spouse Mardella Mingua Wheeler; his daughters, Pamela Jane England (Danny) of New Richmond, OH and Carla Dinsmore of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Kerri Dinsmore of Lexington and Seth Carson Dinsmore of Lexington. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
