She was predeceased by: her husband John David Proffitt; her parents, John C. Minton and Rose Minton (Barnes); her siblings, Ida Benge, Nellie Mae Proffitt, Irene Cheek, Nannie Rush, Tereth Benge, Zella Proffitt, James Russell Minton, Glenn Minton, Bob Minton, Dillard Minton and Mary Minton; and her pet Patsy.

She is survived by: her son Corey Proffitt-Boyd (Tommy) of Lexington, Kentucky; and her sister Judy Parker of London, Kentucky..

The family ask donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Evelene "Katherine" (Minton) Proffitt.
