He was predeceased by: his father Joe Thomas, Sr.; his sons, David LeWayne Green and Dontanuya Donae Adams; and his brothers, Joe Thomas, Jr. and Robert "Bobby".

He is survived by: his children, Daandreco Scruggs and DaVonda Green; and his siblings, William "Bee" Boyd (Betty), Charles "PeeWee" Boyd, Rosalene "Lucy" Bobbitt, Glenna "Tee" Sanderlyn, Bonnie Boyd, Vina "Ann" Boyd, Stella Boyd, Anthony "Booga" Boyd and Lenora "Baby Cakes" Boyd. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
