He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his son Charles "Cotton" Short, Jr. (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Sydney of Lynsey, C. J., Benjamin Short, Paige Smith and Haley Shelby; his siblings, Howard Short, Jr. of Lexington, KY, John Short of London, KY, Evelyn Jones of Richmond, KY and Brenda Evans of Richmond, KY; his grandson-in-law Jeremy Jent; and his nephews, John Devon and Matthew Williams.
