He was predeceased by: his father Charles McDonald Sr.; his sons, Denny, Donnie, Douglas and Dallas McDonald; his stepdaughter Jean Laidlaw; and his siblings, J. C. McDonald, Paul McDonald, Leona Stanfield and Marie Day.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary McDonald (Patty) of Willard and Larry McDonald (Deborah) of Carlisle; his half-brother Jimmy Hay of Winchester; his stepdaughters, Naomi Johnson (Tommy) of Richmond and Marcella Hayden (Mitchell) of Richmond; and his brother Billy McDonald (Betty) of Somerset. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
