He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl John and Anneliese Schmidt Gimmel; his daughter Anna Karlsdottir; and his grandson Rikhardur Karlsson. He is survived by: his children, Carl John Karlsson, Lisa Maria Karlsdottir and Suzanne Gimmel; his sister Annamarie Nash; and his pet Angel. He is also survived by six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
