He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Hollingsworth and Mary Bernice Jackson Combs; his daughter Mary Shannon Combs; his granddaughter Lilly Robertson; and his brothers, James and Dave Combs.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Cox Combs; his children, Bruce Douglas Combs II (Sandra) of Lexington, Kentucky and Monica Robertson (Roger) of Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Carlton and Mary Hall; and his sister Sally Ristaneo of Middletown, Ohio. He is also survived by cousins that he was very close to; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
