JONATHAN H. BELL SR wrote a sympathy message

“To Ben's family in Ky and Griffin. I lost my brother two weeks ago and thus not aware of Ben. Was watching Appalachian TV tonight, and a story on Lexington was on. I immediately thought of my long time friend and input his name. Ben and I worked together as credit collectors at the JCP Credit office at 715 Peachtree St in Atlanta from 1973-1978. We ate lunch every day, Ben would bring tomatoes from his garden in Griffin, Lori the cookies and me the ham and bread. Ben was my mentor, i was promoted a few times and then transferred to Tampa Fl in 1983. Over the years, Ben and i would touch base. On one occasion he asked me to try and find his elder kids in Griffin. Ben was there when my oldest daughter was born, she is now 43. I was transferred to Tampa, St Lucia, Ohio, Barbados and Virginia over the last 32 years and Ben and I remained friends. Sometimes i would call the. kY, house and immediately his late wife would yell out, Ben its Jon!. I plan to visit Westwood Gardens, this Saturday to pay my respects. I am so sorry for the family. Tonight I am filled with tears and joy, for Ben was white and I am black, but race was never a factor. We had trust and love. Let the kids know, he was a gentleman of integrity.
