It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Barbara Meyer Groves (Lexington, Kentucky), who passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Barbara leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.

She was predeceased by: her husband John Russell Groves; and her parents, Robert Meyer and Betty Meyer. She is survived by: her children, John Marshall Groves (Stephanie Mathews Groves) of Orlando, FL, Matthew Meyer Groves (Jennifer Givens Groves) of Vienna, VA and Elise Groves Sheehan (Joseph Sheehan) of Bozeman, MT; her siblings, Phillip Meyer (Jan Meyer) of Lexington, KY and Sarah Meyer Mutziger (John Mutziger); and her sister-in-law Lida Groves. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Church of the Good Shepherd (533 E Main St, Lexington, KY 40507). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Living Arts and Science Center (362 N Martin Luther King Blvd, Lexington, KY 40508).

“I was so sorry to learn of Barbara's passing. I knew Barbara when her husband, Russ, was a partner in JohnsonRomanowitz Architects with my late husband, Boyer Moore. She introduced me to spinach dip in a bread bowl, which I thought was just too delicious; another time, she kindly welcomed me and my son when we were caught in a snow storm around Ashland with a flat tire and trekked to the house she was living in at the time. She pulled out toys for Bo to play with until help arrived. So kind!”
