He was predeceased by: his father Melvin Earl; his sister Melva Jean Birkhead; and his siblings-in-law, Lessie Hawley Jones, Patricia Holmes Meyers, Allie Dean Oliver, Phil Bozarth, Gerry Wood, Ray Gribbs, Eddie Napier Bob Jones, Fred Allen Meyers and Paul Swihart.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Elaine Hawley Young; his children, Robert Bruce Young, Susan Lynette O'Bryan (Gerald) and Karen Elaine Carper (Eric); his grandchildren, Dusty Young (Jamie), Jeremy Young (Tina), Brett Carper (Madison) and Devin Adkins (Sarah Hendricks); his stepgrandchildren, Amanda Clark (Joey), Patrick O'Bryan, Erin Willoughby (Bruce), Sean O'Bryan (Britney) and Alana Posten (Jacob); his siblings, Leola Josephine Gribbs, Bertha Edith Bozarth, Nellie Myrtle Napier, Verna Mae Wood, Melvin Earl Young, Jr. (Leona), Kenneth Alan Young (Carolyn) and Shelby Glen Young (Karen); and his siblings-in-law, Charlene Swihart and Billy (Tina). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
