She was predeceased by: her parents, Uriah Bates and Connie Johnson Bates; her spouse Bennie Eldridge; and her sisters, Elizabeth Hamilton, Eliza Combs and Josephine Slone.
She is survived by: her children, Bennie Eldridge Jr., Otis Eldridge, Mavis Brown, Madean Engle and Pauline Chaney; and her siblings, Beckham Bates, Woorley Bates and Maxine Bates Quillen. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
