He was predeceased by: his parents, Azalee Ewing Holbrook and John Baxter Ewing; his son Joseph Daniel Ewing; and his brothers, Charles "Bud" Henegar, Don Ewing and Jeff Ewing.
He is survived by: his wife Imogene Daniels Ewing; his children, John B. Ewing, Jr. (Lucy), Kathaleen Pruitt (Harlan) and Lora Ewing Deming of Raleigh, NC; and his siblings, Joe Ewing (Angel), Ben Ewing, Kathleen Ann Smith (Robert), Ruth Middleton (J. D.) and Irene Stout (Wayne). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
