He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Murrell and Hallie Elizabeth Parker Canter; his wife Margaret Welling; his brothers, George, Robert and Wayne Canter; and his pet Poncho.

He is survived by: his siblings, Philip Canter of Ormond Beach, FL and Gerri Powell of Cecilia, KY; and his pets, Buffy and Lucy.
