He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alvin "Johnny" Alvey and Mary Kathryn Robey Shepherd; and his brother Larry Alvey. He is survived by: his sisters, Linda Cecil of Columbia and Betty Alvey Smith of New Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; his many friends and caregivers.
