He was predeceased by: his wife Juanita Wheeler Hughes; his parents, Joseph Elmer and Imelda Elizabeth Brady Hughes; his siblings, Nora Hardinger, Gertrude O'Bryan, Mary Catherine Childers, Viella, Patrick, Robert, Joseph, Gregory and Thomas Hughes; and his close friend Betty Parker.
He is survived by: his sister Mary Delano Cocanougher of Perryville; and his nephew Steven Hughes (Charlotte) of Raywick. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
