He was predeceased by: his father Earl Matthew Smothers. He is survived by: his brother John Earl Smothers; his grandchildren, Karleigh Jo Delmenhorst and Gotham Monroe; his wife Emily S. Potter Smothers; his mother Mildred Gladys Smothers; his children, Stacy Delmenhorst (John) and Scotty Smothers (Tabitha); his stepchildren, Christopher Monroe and Victoria Griffith; his grandchildren, Dakota, Alexis, Sabrina, Christian, Maddi, Asa, Alayna and Alec; and his great grandchild Winter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.
He enjoyed making people laugh, even at his own expense, proudly claiming the title "ugliest woman" in a local contest for charity.
