He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Evelyn Beasley Hawkins; his parents, Clarence Hawkins and Cordia Riley Hawkins; his son Wayne Paterson "Roy" Alves; and his siblings, Irvin Hawkins of Earl Hawkins, J. C, Floyd Hawkins, Paul Hawkins, Garland Hawkins, Leon Hawkins, Maurice Hawkins, Juanita Peyton, Zula Belle Darnell and Mary Catherine Thurman.
He is survived by: his son Samuel P. "Sammy" Alves (Missy) of Lawrenceburg; his daughter-in-law Penny Alves; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Hannah, Ariauna, Natasha, Tiffany and Christina; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Hawkins and Evelyn Hawkins. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ninevah Christian Church, 1195 Ninevah Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
