He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Barnette and Fannie Barnette; and his siblings, Virginia Peach, Billy Barnette and Charles Barnette.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Moore Barnette; his daughter Crystal Taylor (Eric); his stepdaughter Regina Brangers (Ray); his sons, Jeff Barnette, Johnny Barnette and Kevin Barnette (Keena); and his siblings, Betty Rakes and Jackie Barnette (Garnetta). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
