We are sad to announce that on April 17, 2025, at the age of 91, Shirley Joyce May in La Grange, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Shirley Joyce may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Aldon and Leona Speed Payton; her husband William Thomas May; her daughter Carol Jean Craigmyle; and her siblings, Grace Seeders, J. C. Payton and Kenneth Payton.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Jo Tingle-McGowan (George) of Crestwood and Billie Sue Webster (Steve) of Eminence, Kentucky.. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Sholar-Riley Funeral Home (5710 Castle Hwy, Pleasureville, KY 40057). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at the Defoe Cemetery (881 Cedarmore Rd, Defoe, KY 40057).
