He was predeceased by: his brother Billy Wilson. He is survived by: his children, David Wilson Jr. (Lynn), Tracy Jean Simmons (Danny), Tammy Jo Pottinger, Terry Lynn Collins (Charles), Daniel Cleo Wilson (Holly) and Tina Carol Brazell (Frankie); and his sister Betty Carol Courtwright (Allen). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made in David's name to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, P.O. Box 803, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
