He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Allen Sr. and Irene Hoagland Mayes; his son Louis Mayes; and his sister Donna Odom. He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Ott Mayes; his sons, Larry Mayes (Barbara) and Shawn Mayes (Christina); his grandchildren, Lauren Mayes and Carter Mayes; his sister Andrea Miller (Bob); his sister-in-law Mary Agnes O'Rourke (Mick); and his stepmother Mary Mayes.
