He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Ellis Sr. and Anna Marguerite Carpenter; his brother Marvin Ellis Carpenter Jr.; and his stepbrother Larry Marcum. He is survived by: his fiancée Cherie Sentelle; his siblings, James Carpenter (Debbie), Michael Carpenter and Candy Miller; his stepmother Alice Carpenter; his stepsiblings, Donna Sexton (Warren), Lorie Marcum and Dennis Marcum; his stepchildren, Michelle Sentelle (Jose) and Michael Sentelle; and his grandchildren, Hunter Sentelle, Ethan Sentelle, Garrett Sentelle, Channing Tellez, Jade Tellez and Cyrus Tellez.
