He is survived by: his children, Joe Yates (Samantha) of Kings Mountain, Derick Yates (Megan) of Berea, George Yates of Kings Mountain and Barbara Yates (Caitlynn) of Mintonville; his siblings, Pete Yates of Kings Mountain, Mary Ann Long of Elkorn and Jeannie Carman of Kings Mountain; and his grandchildren, Kyley, Noah, Braylin, Johnathon, Aiden, Lillian, Solomon, Dustin, Brooklynne, Asa and Maverick.
