With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cecil Smith Sr. of Kettle Island, Kentucky, who passed away on May 4, 2022 at the age of 91. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Cecil Smith Sr. to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Socia Smith (Taylor); his daughter Ada Lee Smith; his wife Theda Shumate Smith; and his siblings, Goldie Ferguson, June Collett, Reed, Earl and Fred Smith.
He is survived by: his stepgrandson Jeremy Miller; his children, Gary Smith (Lisa), Cecil Smith, Jr. (Carol Sue), Kelley Smith, John Smith (JoAnn), Donna Phipps (Sturgill) and Shelley Teague (Barry); his stepchildren, Mike Shumate (Jeanette) and Janet Avrett (Chuck); his grandchildren, Travis Phipps, Chris Phipps (Jessica), Lincoln Smith (Brittany), Amy Teague, Tyler Smith, Jonathan Teague (Kayla), Amanda Reed (Justin), Jordan Smith (Kristen) and Velda Smith; and his stepgrandchildren, Jill Synenberg (Phi), Jamie Miller, Rebecca Madrid (Matthew), Elizabeth NeSmith (Justin) and Lara Shumate. He is also survived by Fourteen great-grandchildren, ten-step great-grandchildren, three-step great-great-grandchildren.
During COVID, he remained faithful in attending church by utilizing the "drive-in" church option.
