He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Nichols and Rusha Witten Nichols; and his sister Rita Allen. He is survived by: his children, William Thomas Nichols (Melissa) of Flat Gap, Kentucky, Andraya Preston (Guthrey) of Oil Springs and Alena Hughes (Chad) of Staffordsville, Kentucky; his siblings, Carl Nichols of New Port News, Virginia and Dianna Carr of Lexington, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Rebekah Preston and Dylan Preston.
