He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Carpenter and Lucille Wells Carpenter; his siblings, Charlie Carpenter, Donnie Carpenter and Peggy Ann Carpenter; his nieces, LaCaren Matthews and Greta White; and his nephew Perry Wayne Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Mae Carpenter; his children, William Miles (Polly) of Louisville, Timothy Davis (Tina) of Hope, Peggy Martin (Albert) of Mt. Sterling, Tammy Gail Davis of Jeffersonville and Joy Bramel (Woody) of Jeffersonville; his brothers, Gerald Carpenter of London and Wayne Carpenter of Jeffersonville; and his close friends, Garry, Carlie Willoughby, Stephen, Jaime Willoughby, Sandy Willoughby, Oliver and Mary Willoughby. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
