He is survived by: his wife Cathy Elam of Jeffersonville; his children, Kristan Elam, Nicholas Elam, Joshua Elam (Brooklyn) and Matthew Elam (Jessica); his grandchildren, Chandler Quarles, Lillian King, Callista King, Cannon Lawson, Caselyn Elam, Harmony Elam, Ryker Elam and Arabella Elam; his sister Dottie Pelfrey (Greg); and his nephews, Trevor Hopkins, Braxton Hopkins, Greg Pelfrey and Devon Pelfrey.
