He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Alexander Mattingly and Mary Elizabeth Mattingly (Wimpsett); his wife Lorena Maretta Mattingly (Ellwood); his siblings, Eleanor Mattingly Hume Barejko, Kathleen Mattingly Thomas, Valree Mattingly Walker and Joseph Mattingly; and his grandson Robert Weston Fowler.
He is survived by: his children, Marvin C. Mattingly (Catherine) of Jeffersontown, KY, Maretta Cerone (Joseph) of Cary, NC, Justine Fowler (Joseph) of Georgetown, KY, Thomas Mattingly of New Albany, IN, Rhonda Hellinger (Charles) of Georgetown, KY, Howard Mattingly of Jeffersontown, KY and Gordon Mattingly (JoAnn) of Louisville, KY.; and his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin), Melissa (Baxter), Justin, David, Tina (Nick), Daniel (Jessica), Laura (Westley), Jacob (Mary Beth), Elizabeth, James (Rachel), Maggie (Hunter), Samuel, Jack, Brian (Tori), Christopher and Lucinda. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
