He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Richard (Barker) and Homer Richard; and his sister Olive Lowe. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Foley Richard; his daughter Alesa Gail Richard Brookins; his son-in-law Tracey Brookins; his cousin Mariel Barker; and his stepgrandson Trey Brookins.
