He was predeceased by: his parents, John Simpkins and Nora Lee Watkins Simpkins; and his siblings, Harvey Simpkins and Anna Mae Tincher. He is survived by: his close friend Patty Spicer of Jackson, KY.; his sons, Larry Wayne Simpkins (Jamie) of Jackson, KY and Austin Zachary Spicer (Autumn) of Vancleve, KY.; his sister Amanda Turner of Jackson, KY.; and his grandchildren, Mattea Bailey, Noah Carver, Alyicia Elam, Kayden Little Lee Vanover, Harlie Vanover, Hunter Spicer and Ember Spicer. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel (15 Deaton Ln, Jackson, KY 41339). A burial was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Wells Hospice Care Center (101 Dennis Sandlin MD Cove, Hazard, KY 41701).
